Summit Road

I’ve been dreaming about Summit Road
About how we’d race the sun but it flickered blurry gold
so we’d speed past the deer and the fields where they’d go
steering under the same redwoods who watched us grow

Our wheels were rolling fast to young stereo sounds
when redwood roots were made
and now those days have passed
sweet memories now
but redwoods roots sustain

I still remember the bumps on the road
and how the potholes grew as we turned old
but we’d swerve ‘round the bends when they said drive slow
steering under the same redwoods who watched us grow

Do you remember how we’d talk about where we’d be now?
Did you know that Summit Road
would still shout proud and loud?

“The kids have changed
like they do with age
It was always gonna be ok”

So long as we still dance to those stereo sounds
the redwood roots remain
So, though those days have passed
we race blurred dreams down
The redwood roots sustain
