Warrior

We were tumbling down that dark night road

Bodies blurred with night

Searching

Searching

Disoriented and far from home

“My mother always said

That if you’ve got a big heart

You’ve got a fragile heart”

I’m strong, I can prove it

She sprinted, shouting and screaming

At the lies the shadows told

Forbidden feelings feed the fire

Flooding tears tame the flame

She stopped to clutch her chest

Holding her heartbeats in place

“The bull’s-eye is too big

There’s too much space to shield!”

I’m strong, I can prove it

She was off again

Body blurred with the night

She sprinted shouting and screaming

At the lies the shadows told

I’m strong, I can prove it

“You’re already strong

You’ve already proved it!”

The calls don’t slow her down

She keeps sprinting

Shouting and screaming

And holding her heartbeats in place

Forbidden feelings feed the fire

Flooding tears tame the flame

The body remembers the balance

Beneath the tangled brain

We were tumbling down that dark night road

Trusting the harsh pavement would lead us home
